I hope everyone is doing great and that you have had a wonderful week so far. I just uploaded my latest video onto Youtube featuring the Tarte True Blood Limited Edition Palette.
This palette was my first purchase of the Tarte brand. It comes with 17 eye shadows, sample size eye primer, sample size mascara and a full size retractable eyeliner.
I do like their eyeshadows in this palette very much. The texture is creamy and they blend effortlessly and I find all the shadows to be opaque with minimal fallout. They give you a nice variety of shades to choose from. Some are Matte, some have shimmer and some have a bit of glitter but not like the ones that end up all over your face instead of on the lid.
However I'm not a lover of the full size eyeliner that comes with this palette. It's the Aqua gel eyeliner. I have a love hate relationship with this eyeliner, because it's so incredibly soft that you have to be so gentle with it so it doesn't break on you. The slightest bit of pressure and the tip will break off, it's that easy. It will smudge so make sure you set it with a shadow or powder of some sort. What I do love about it is that it's so opaque. It's one of the blackest eyeliners I have ever tried. I give it an A+ for that. I have not tried it in my waterline yet. I'm a bit nervous because one review I saw of it from The Makeup Geek is that she used it in someones waterline and it made their eyes sting and water. So you can see why I'm a little hesitant to try it. If you have tried it in the waterline please let me know what your reaction was to it.
This palette also comes with their own eyeshadow primer called Lifted a natural eye primer with Firmitol. I have tried it with their eyeshadows and I've tried it with Urban Decay, MAC, and Too Faced Shadows. I have had the same results with all the different brand of shadows and that is, that it creases on my lids after several hours. I do have oily eye lids.
My Holy Grail eye shadow primer is Too Faced Shadow Insurance with Urban Decays Primer Potion following right behind.
This palette also comes with a sample size of their famous "Lights, Camera, Lashes" mascara. I have only tried their mascara once and that was today. So I can't give you a review of it yet.
Since buying this palette I have purchase a few other items from the Tarte line. I have tried the ReCreate silicone-free primer with Wrinkle Rewind technology. I must say that I like that primer very much even more then my Laura Mercier primer which has been my Holy Grail of primers, but with Tartes primer, you only need a small amount to cover your entire face and it also feels moisturizing which is a plus for this dry skin gal.
I also enjoy Tartes Smooth Operator Amazonian clay illuminating serum. I add a pea size amount to my liquid foundation. I find that it helps to keep my foundation moisturizing all day and adds a little enhancement to the color.
I have a sample size of the Tarte Park Ave Princess mineral bronzer. I'm very picky when it comes to bronzers. I don't like any shimmer in them. Looking like a disco ball is not very appealing to me. I do find that there is a hint of shimmer to Tarte bronzer, but not enough to make me cringe. I do find their amount of shimmer to be flattering.
I enjoy palettes that come with extra sample items like this one with a eye liner, eye primer, and a mascara. It gives you a chance to sample some of their other items that you might not ever try. I believe the more samples in a palette the better, because if I like it then I would go and buy the full size item.

My first purchase from a Blog sale.
Well just like the title says, I bought my first items from a blog sale. It was easy, pain free and like gambling in a way or even being at a silent auction. I saw the items ahead of time, new the set prices and then was told what day and at what time this sell would start. It was a first come first serve type of thing. You placed your order hoping that nobody else had asked for that item before you and then the game begins.
You sit there by your computer waiting to see if you are the one that receives the email for the invoice from pay pal. Are you sad, or are you happy?? Did you get there first or did someone else beat you.
This is how I did it. I saw the items and made a list of the ones I wanted. When it came time I left my order in the comment section of the blog, hoping I was the first to ask for those items. As the minutes went by I saw I wasn't the first one on some of the items but I was on some of the other items, which made me excited. Now this is where the waiting begins. The person having the blog sell now starts with the very first person with the first comment and sends them a invoice for the items they ask for and so on down the line.
I received a invoice for 4 of the 9 items I asked for. Not bad I would say for a first timer. Then hours go by to see if the other items you asked for are still available or were they purchase by someone else. There were over 70 comments of people asking for the same things. I went through every comment and made a list of what was asked for and what was not asked for. There were 3 items that nobody ask for, so I placed my second order and to my delight I was able to purchase those items.
I will say this, I found that I very much enjoyed the blog sell. It was fun, exciting, thrilling, disappointing and aggravating all in one. Would I purchase again from a blog sale.. You bet I would and I even look forward now to having my own blog sale.

Birch Box, Glymm and LuxeBox by Loose Buttons.
I hope you are all doing well this fine day. Today I would like to talk about a service that started in America and YouTube beauty guru's have made it a very big item. This is called Birch Box. This was only available in the States but now, we here in Canada have something the same called Glymm (which is one service) and LuxeBox by Loose Buttons is the other service that Canada has to offer. You get it delivered to your door once a month and it contains 4-5 deluxe samples and once in awhile there will be a full size item. These items are all beauty related in some way. Whether it's a moisturizer or a nail polish, eyeshadow or a shampoo and even on the occasion there may be a sweet delectable delight. This little surprise gift box you could call it, is only $10.00CAD (Glymm) and $12.00CAD(Loose Buttons) a month. Now who wouldn't like to receive something like this in the mail once a month, and for that price...why not I say.
So yes I have subscribed to both of these services starting the month of November. I will give each one a three month trial to see which one I think is the best. So far from the video's I have watched on YouTube, I can't make up my mind which one is best. I must say they both have had some great items in there boxes like a full size eyeshadow by Laura Mercier. A full size bottle of Essie Nail polish and the list goes on. The deluxe samples are even a nice size as samples go. Now they are bigger samples then you get at the drug store or a free sample with a online purchase.
If I were you I would check out some of these You Tube video's of these boxes and decide for yourself or wait til mid November to see what I think of My first impressions of the surprise sample boxes.

My first video in over a year is on YouTube!
My first video in a long time is now up on YouTube for your viewing. I hope you enjoy it. The collection is from awhile ago. I uploaded this video to my computer, but couldn't find it until now. I thought you might still like to see it even though it's a bit late and you can't get the products in MAC Stores any longer. As they were Limited Editions. You can always check their website and they may still have a few items left.

Makeup by VeneetaS
Hi everyone my newest video is uploaded on You Tube already and it's MY First Haul. I had so much fun doing this video that it has a Two Part to it. As I say in the video that it's a new year and a new beginning so I guess I will do a couple of reviews before the next haul and somewhere there will be a makeup tutorial.
If there is something that you would like me to review then leave me a message and I will get to it very soon. If there is something in my haul video's that you would like to see a review of then please let me know.
I had some trouble with my lighting and showing the colors of the products but that was only temporary as I'm working on the lighting now and will be ready for my next video witch might be a review or a haul cause this week I have gathered a lot of stuff and much being drug store stuff which is unusual for me. I usually go for the higher priced items but thought I would give drugstore products a chance and I always love their mascaras.

A Splash of Color by VeneetaS
Hi my dear lovelies, how are you this fine month of September? My contest is CANCELLED as of September 17,2009.
I will be updating this later with more information about the cancellation.
My contest is up and in progress on YouTube.
I decided that the contest would be a Masquerade mask that you drew on your face using any kind of make up and you can use feathers, glitter, rhinestones and anything you can think of.
The picture I have above is me with a butterfly mask drawn on my face to give you an idea of what I want. You can copy a mask or come up with one all of your own. Here are the rules:
If you are 18 years or younger you must have a parent or guardians permission, so if you win, your parents don't have a problem with you giving me your address.
If using still photos, I want to see your progress from start to finish and the same goes for if you are sending in a video, I want to see every step by step of your work. You may enter 2 times but only 2 times. You MUST be a SUBSCRIBER of mine to be eligible to enter. The most important thing of all is to have fun.
The prizes that the winner will receive in the mail are: A 13 piece brush set from Coastal Scents and also the 78 eyeshadow, blush palette from Coastal Scents. These 2 prizes are great for someone that is new to the make up world as well as the girl with everything. These are 2 great prizes that I'm sure the winner will love.
If I don't have 15-20 entries to this contest then the contest will be cancelled and will be changed to something else that more people would want to enter. Because this takes an entire day to draw on the face. My picture above is nothing special but it took me all afternoon and most part of the evening to finish. If I don't receive a certain amount of subscribers by the 18Th of September then I will be changing the contest to something more fun to do.
I will update my blog with further information as the days go on.

A Splash of Color By VeneetaS

I hope you are having a wonderful day. My last make up tutorial on YouTube was quite colorful, a rainbow. I did have it named NYX Pearl Mania Rainbow but changed it to Cotton Candy Rainbow. It is the most interesting and sexy look I have done so far and it's my husbands favorite look. He thinks it is so sexy which makes me feel very good.I'm not sure if I will get another tutorial uploaded on YouTube before my second contest starts. I'm planning on the contest to start on September 1, 2009. The winner is going to love the prizes we have. My husband is even excited about this contest and paid for one of the prizes. I'm not going to say what the prizes are because it's a surprise for when the contest starts which will run for about a month so you will have plenty of time to prepare for this. I'm sure you are going to have a lot of fun with this contest.
I am in the rehearsal mode of getting another tutorial ready to be filmed. So keep on a look out for my next video on YouTube. It could be a make up tutorial or it could be the next contest with great prizes. Hope to see you then.

Splash of Color By VeneetaS

Welcome to my Blog, My New and Improved Blog
I haven't been around for a bit, but now I am caught up on stuff and relaxed a little. I would think that all the make up companies would have their Fall Collections out by now.
I'm changing the way I use to do my blog. I may write a little about myself, but mostly it will have to do with what is going on with my channel on YouTube. No more about what company has a sale on, but if I see a sale that is worth telling about I will then let you know.
M.A.C. cosmetics will be coming out with a new collection around August 20Th, it is available in the UK already and I can't wait to get my hands on this collection. It's called the "Graphic Garden". I love the Black and White packaging and the colors are so fantastic. I haven't been interested in any of the collections since the "Hello Kitty" Collection. I will be buying everything in this collection.
I added a new make up tutorial to my YouTube channel called "NYX Pearl Mania Rainbow". I hope you all enjoy it. Here is the list of what I used:
Too Face Shadow Insurance
Scotch Tape
NYX Pearl Mania loose eyeshadow in :
Lime Pearl
Turquoise
True Purple Pearl
Very Pink Pearl

L.A.Colors smudge proof liquid eyeliner in Black
Quo false eyelashes #803
Rimmel's Sexy Curve mascara in extreme black
NYX Diamond Sparkle Lipstick in Sparkling Flower
Sigma Make Up Brushes:

Wednesday with Make up By VeneetaS
Hello there, Happy Hump day Wednesday.
I thought by now I would of had a new make up tutorial done and on YouTube. But I haven't even come close to making one.
We are going to the fireworks tonight. It should be great and we are having a heat wave so we won't be rained on this time like we were on Saturday.
I may of talked about this in another post but it is very important especially if you share your make up, is to sanitize it. All you need in rubbing alcohol and a small spray bottle to put the alcohol in. Then get all your eye shadows and spray them with the alcohol and let dry, it only takes a moment to dry. Do the same with your blushes. Now for your lipsticks. what you need to do is dip them in the alcohol for a few moments and let them dry. It's very simple and only takes a few minutes and does not harm your make up in any way. High end or low end make up.
Now lets see into the Make up World:
ELF=Eyes Lip Face is having a overstock sale on their
mineral lipsticks for 75% off.
Coastal Scents Have added a new product to their collection. They now have 5 pairs of false eye lashes. They are not on sale yet but coming soon.

Friday/Saturday with Make up By VeneetaS
Happy Friday to all,
Hope you are enjoying your Friday. We went to the fireworks Wednesday night and it was wonderful. We must of walked a mile from the Skytrain to the beach, but it was worth it. Saturday night we will be doing the same.
They turned off the hot water in the building that we live in on Thursday due to the boiler and said we hope to have the hot water back on Sunday. All I can say is "Relatives we are coming over to shower"
I'm hoping to have a new make up tutorial done by the beginning of the week. so look out for that one.
My contest ends tonight at midnight and the winner will be announce this following Monday. I certainly have had a bunch to chose from and it's been hard. What a great job everyone has done.
In the Make up World Today,
MAC cosmetics have 2 new collections called "Love that look" and "Baby Bloom"
'Love that look' has 12 beautiful limited eye shadows. Most of them in frosty or pearl shades. Plus it has 4 kohl-like PearlGlide eyeliners with a sparkly, reflective finish.
'Baby Bloom' has 4 Suntints SPF 20 Lip Balms to chose from.
Hey it's Friday get out there and have some fun. See you tomorrow or Sunday.

Wednesday with Make up By VeneetaS
Happy Hump day Wednesday,
It certainly has been warm and dry where I am. It's nice to see that summer has arrived. The room I film my tutorials in is actually our media room. All we have in there is a fan and when I am filming I turn it off so this little room starts to cook and I start to melt. So now I'm trying to figure a way that I can stay cool while I'm filming. My last 2 tutorials have been out there. So I'm thinking of doing a look that is softer and could be worn anywhere. Unless I get some request that is what I'll be doing. In my newer video's I am and will be using my Sigma Make up Brushes. The numbers on them are comparable with MAC Brushes. I really like these brushes and highly recommend them. They perform just as well as my MAC Brushes.
I know most women like to keep their brushes out on their vanity in a bowl but I keep all my brushes in a brush roll. Leaving them out lets dust and bacteria grow on them unless you wash them every other day, it's not that sanitary. I will give all my brushes a good wash once a week even if they haven't been used.
Tonight here in BC, Canada in the lower mainland at the beach called English Bay we are having a huge fireworks display. Different countries put on the fireworks. We have them tonight then on Saturday then the following Wednesday and then the finally the following Saturday. We usually make it to the 2 Saturdays but this year we are trying to make it to each night.
